In Heaven the Bells are ringing

Dear Friends,

I thought a special dedication mass on St Chad and St Cedd day for twelve bells plus twelve heavenly handbells at St Magnus the Martyr church at London Bridge tonight is worth a mention. Imagine, a church tower having been condemned to silence for seventy years is now summoning in the faithful again with the joyful ringing of twelve bells and a dedicated team of ringers, who devote their time and skills to call the faithful to mass over the river Thames. Another proof that only Christ's path free of war and wrath is making all this possible.

How wonderful is that?! And the ringers are determined to make other churches ring again, too, like St Dunstan's, John Donne's last church.

On Saturday I had the honour to meet over a hundred bell ringers from all over the country trying to sound evermore beautiful as they were going along for over five hours.

One of the bells is dedicated to St Cedd, the older brother of St Chad, and every bell is being dedicated to another saint including St John the Baptist.

The bells are inviting the faithful to get together in the mystery of the wonderful sacrament of Our Lord and King and God Jesus Christ, and they call us for remembering Christ's Passion and for celebrating and living in His sacraments. These bells have invited us to share in the mysteries of holy matrimony at a nuptial mass, for a requiem mass, for baptisms and for all sorts of holy days that have the sacraments at their heart.

May they always summon the faithful for gathering around the Lord's Table in the one holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, the spiritual church of Jesus Christ. He only ever invites to lead a life free of greed, free of lust for power and selfish desires. But when we truly follow Him, we are living heaven on earth in His sacraments and in every moment of our lives.

I pray that every soul on this earth may come to know the love of God and the love of Christ, hidden in the mysteries of His most blessed Sacrament, and that everybody, who feels lost finds their way back to God on Jesus' path, which is the only way home.
